Hello, Love!

I found a vintage girls' smock while thrifting in Oklahoma earlier this month and since it was made of denim and red bandana material and had the name 'Amy' falling off the front, I decided it wasn't something I wanted for Ruby. Then the perspective came and I realized it was a simple pattern that I could use to make the kind of adorable smocks I want her wardrobe to be full of someday.

This 'sample' smock is the first of many that I'll be adding to the RVA shop later this week. It is made from one of my favorite vintage sheets, a vintage doily, aqua buttons and an off-white lining. It's perfect for those warm summer afternoons and can be worn into the fall if layered with a sweet, long-sleeved top and pants.

I'll be saving one of each for Ruby, of course. She may not fit into it until her first Spring anyway. I think a pair of aqua bloomers or toddler skinny jeans would be the finishing touch! I promised Sebastian I wouldn't take a picture but I did bribe him with chocolate chips to try it on so I could see if it would fit a 3 year old. Unless you have a smaller 3 year old, I'd say this little number could range from 6 months as a dress to 2 years as a smock. Oh sizing...tricky when not all 6 month olds measure the same, right?
