Some Days Go On and On

I'll pick the winner of the Dixie DIY candle Saturday afternoon as Friday never stopped!

I've made progress on joining this monster blanket this week. This part feels faster than making all of the granny squares, although, I would've guessed it would be the most tedious part. It might actually get finished on time! I'm going to add a scallop trim to the edge when I'm done and I'm thinking either orange or gray. What do you suggest?

Happy weekend! Another giveaway and some yummy eye candy coming this way soon.

xoxo,
Rachel

  1. I love your color choices! The pink is great, I think orange would go nicely for the edges. Thanks to you I am addicted to granny squares.

  8. How beautiful your quilt is! It will be such a special keepsake for her throughout her life and god willing, she will be able to pass it on to her children-not like you have the time now, but be sure to document the making of it for future gens to see!
    Oh-grey gets my vote!

  12. Ya'll aren't making this easy for me! :)

It seems split down the middle on orange or gray. I'll have to surprise you.

Thanks for all of the sweet comments. It's nice to have done a project that takes so long and feel the sense of accomplishment as it comes together. It's so much different than finishing a small quilt in a weekend. Character development, I think.

If you guys want a good post on how to make grannies...see this one from July on RVA's blog.

  15. I wonder if they have grey and orange and white varigated out there. If not I wonder if you could choose the right shades of both grey and orange and find that certain length that would bring them together, you might even bring in white to be the spacer between the grey and orange. Have you done two strands yet? Happy happies.
