Sprint to the End
I have a hard time spacing out projects in order to get everything done without losing sleep. I know this about myself. When I was in kindergarten, my teacher told my mother that I needed a time frame to work or else I'd never finish anything. My mom repeated this to me in high school one late night as she helped me finish a report. I don't know if this is a self-fulfilling prophecy because I was labeled a procrastinator at a young age or if I'm just wired to be less organized and driven than some of my peers. I still manage to get an amazing amount done in the wee hours. I just trade in my sanity. My peace.
So, this week, with my deadline breathing down my neck, I'm going to try to make lists of projects that need to get done. I'm going to try not to test a new idea or recreate an old one. I'm going to use the fabric that I've got instead of rushing to the store for something that feels newer. I'm going to spend less time checking my e-mail and lurking on blogs. I'm going to be intentional with the time I have to myself when Sebastian is asleep. I'm going to need lots of music and lots of coffee.
It might get a little messy.
I plan on keeping a lens on it all and sharing the process. Thanks for stopping by.

Goodness, you sound just like me. No matter how much time I have I'm always behind, always thinking of something else and thinking that I need something new instead of using the cool stuff I already have.
I'm trying to slow down, enjoy the ride a little more instead of making it a frazzled, hurried journey. Is it possible to slow down AND be more efficient with your time simultaneously?? I wonder.
Anyway, best wishes with everything - you're definitely not alone with the timing thing!!
Hi Rachel,
I'm an Elsie fan and I love checking out your blog and etsy, too. You are so talented! All of your projects amaze me. They are so cute (and so is Sebastian)!!! One of my students wears a shirt to school that I love - it says "Procrastinators unite! ...tomorrow"
Girl, I love all these fun things. Kudos to you for getting ur deadlines done. I love working under a deadline... motivates me! xoxo
Rachel,
We are the procrastinaters of the procrastinaters! And organization has nothing to do with it. My husband will tell anyone who asks that I over organize everything... and yet I still have deadlines breathing down my neck... for example. The "get better" prize I'm sending you... still on my desk. I know you're probably betetr...i'm sending it anyways :) hehe More coffee to ya! ~CK PS there is no way I can work without music! haha!
super cute stuff! you can do it. you gotta have chocolate too, that always helps production! :)
I totally know what you mean, I try so hard not to be like that, but sometimes it just really helps to be under pressure, ya know? :)
And mmmm, your starbucks looks yummy! I've been craving some lately. :)

good luck with getting it all done AND getting some sleep this week! it all looks like fun stuff!

Ooh Fun stuff!!
How exactly is it possible to not check email and lurk on blogs?
rachel. i know all about this. good luck. love the photos.
I totally know how you feel. I'm a procrastinator too. To me, it's really annoying and something I really struggle with. I have to have my boyfriend just tell me to do stuff sometimes. Hehe!
You can do it, babe.
it must be the creativity that causes that, because you sound just like me:)
good advice on the coffee and music!
After 10 pm I'm a zombie! Bless your heart that you can work later into the night :) Perhaps someday, when I'm a Mommy and my only 'alone' time is late, I'll change my tune, but until then I'm most productive between 7-9 pm. I need to get movin'!!! :) Hey, good luck with the deadlines, Rachel :)
