The Night Before the Last Night

The pods came and now they are full.
Everything we own fits into two 8' x 6' x 7' boxes.
My skin is sticky and smells like summertime.
I think Sebastian knows we're leaving. On a totally unrelated note, he managed to take his diaper off after I put him down for his nap and slept in the nude. The boy is a month away from his third year of life starting up and just this week he has shown me how independent he is. He wants to do everything by himself. It took me about three days to realize I needed to nurture that.

I can't wait to put stuff in our new space.
Pictures along the way to tell the tales. Elsie sent me a grown-ups version of those road trip books our parents gave us to keep us quiet in the back seat. Sebastian has a new stash of books himself.
Here's to iced coffee, bathroom breaks, Garrison Keeler audio books, sleepy boys, tired motels, breakfast burritos, distant thunderstorms, catching up, not knowing, finding out, trail mix, bare feet, and a few unnecessary stops at flea markets along the way.

Here we go...

Hope your move is a safe one... and here's to a super good flea market if you hit any of those storms we've had between KC & StL!

My folks always made us play the animal game on long road trips. My babies love it too: take the stash of kid toys, keep them upfront with you so they're not all boring by hour #2, have Sebastian find any combination (i.e. four cows--with entire herds counting as one). Once he does, he earns a toy. Each time he earns a fresh one, he gives you the one he was already playing with. Keeps 'em entertained and aware of the world outside of the car.

when you go to oklahoma, do you have to go under the mcdonalds bridge that sits over one of the highways? that was the point that we were allowed to open our activity bags from grandma on the way home from visiting her.

GOOD LUCK with the move, sweet thing!
can't wait to see pictures and hear stories of this next chapter!
