What is Small, Unexpected and Causing Lots of Phone Calls?

Brett and I found out we are having a baby!

According to our calculations (...ahem) I'll be having this baby near the end of June. Sebastian was originally due on June 29th. We've started to wonder what it is about this time of year that is causing these similarities :) We're thrilled and although Sebastian would just as well have a bath as have a baby brother/sister, I'm thankful he'll be old enough to help Mama pick up the pacifier and teach the baby how to high five.

I'm not sure how private/public I'll be with the details as we progress. My pregnancy with Sebastian was about as easy as they get. I was nauseous most days and had very little energy but the stories I hear from some women about morning sickness all day make my experience seem like a cake walk. I didn't exactly love being pregnant the first time. It felt like an out of body experience from day one. We went through a major and minor move that included a complete change of environment and routine, which probably contributed to the unfamiliarity of it all. This time, I'll mostly know what to expect, how to make the best of things, and have the nearby support of great friends to get me through the tough days. The hardest part of this one might be finding a midwife in Missouri!

We're all gushy inside these days.

Congrats! I don't understand June either. We have 4 kids and 3 are June babies (2 are twins) and my neighbor across the street has 3 of her 4 in May and June.

Pregnancy may not be the most fun, but the kids can be. we are debating baby #5 right now. Good luck!

That is so exciting - it really seems like everyone is expecting these days, lol, it's hard to resist. Last night I visited the hospital with my cousin's newborn and I always get a tinge of baby fever after!
congrats!

Congrats! I am a regular reader and rarely a commenter. I live in KC (not sure what part of Missouri you live in) and know a couple of midwives and teach infant massage to parents if you are interested.

Congratulations again Rachel - SO great that you have lots of help and support around you :)

I am with you on the not-liking- being-pregnant-thing too. I had lots of problems with bleeding and lost my first baby's twin during the pregnancy at 6 weeks, so it was a really scary experience for me. I have two and we are trying for our third. No more after that - definitely not!

Such happy happy news to hear - enjoy the mushy feeling inside :)

Love Karen xo

happy happy day. I appreciate your saying that you did not enjoy pregnancy. I like hearing a balance of individual's experiences. FYI: I learned in a college nutrition class that ginger alleviates nausea. I have a great Carrot Ginger soup recipe that worked wonders for a friend that had not been able to keep anything down for weeks.

I've heard there is a birthing center (and therefore, midwives have to be around somewhere) in Kansas City!
They've got to be hiding somewhere!

congrats!!! you might also have to do some trickery seeing as how (as far as i hear) having a homebirth with a midwife is not exactly legal in missouri (i live in springfield too!). i'm nowhere near the point in my life of having a family, but when i do i definitely want to go natural, with a midwife...so let us know as much as you care to.

again: YAY! :)

Congrats Rachel! We had a midwife for the birth of Elias. LOVED the experience. I'll pray you find one you love.

eeekkk Okay, I personally am so excited & happy for your little family. I will send small prayers your way, in hopes that you are not sick all day. I was sick for 5 months straight. I lost weight. I gained 15 lbs through out my ENTIRE pregnancy. Sad huh? I never got a baby bump. It was more like, old lardy rolls. hahah

P.S. I know what you mean...Ethan was born on June 29th. ;) It's the change in leaves...yup...mnakes ya horny! hahah

Love ya!! Congrats!!!
