Documenting

This is the clearest picture I could get with my squirmy son. I started painting my toe nails the other day and realized very quickly that I had a captive audience. Sebastian waited patiently until I was finished and then said, "My turn!"

He was a good client and stayed still for as long as his nearly three year old body could manage in order for his nails to dry. I only planned on keeping it on him for a day or two but every time I recommend we take it off he gets a little huffy. The other night I took him to get a Redbox DVD on a whim and since his shoes were wet from the puddles, I let him go barefoot. We DO live in the Midwest so I figured I wouldn't get turned in to Social Services.

There were two little girls in front of us in line, maybe five and six, and they noticed his painted toe nails RIGHT AWAY and started pointing and whispering into each others' ears. I smiled and let Sebastian remain aloof on this cultural faux pas. It was a fun memory and he's enjoying being just like Mama. Someday I'll tell him about the time when his Daddy painted his finger nails black and listened to hard core.

I had to laugh at the very end where you said, "Someday I'll tell him about the time when his Daddy painted his finger nails black and listened to hard core." I know far too many guys that applies to. The black nail polish and the tight girl jeans hit rather close to home for me. :)

Cute! Who cares what gender you are. Nailpolish bottles do not say, "For Women Only"! It's cute that he wanted his toes done like yours!

I have similar photos with my son Connor! Glad to know I'm not alone and that other mothers can find the humor and embrace it too!

LoL, awesome! My little brother did the same thing about that age but it was pink on his fingernails.

You two are so adorable! Childhood without any preconceived notions or social guidelines is certainly one of the most magical times in life.

my almost three boy jumped in to the toe nail love during potty training. good way to get him to sit still on the pot. so we use some "boy" colors and try to encourage "toe tatoos" like spiders and stars. however, right now we have matching pink butterflies. (his idea) so, what are you going to do?

Aw it's precious that he wants to be just like his mommy. I'm glad you didn't hide those cute toesies from the world. Who cares what others think...your little boy couldn't be more content with being like mommy and that's all that matters.

My boy is five...he loves to have his toes painted! We usually just do the two big toes and he is happy, happy, happy.
