Question Time

What would you incorporate into your life if money or time were readily available?

I think about this a lot. Mostly it revolves around relationships and having a more rich, thoughtful, intentional lifestyle in the way I show love to my family and friends. I'd love to spend more time and money on fun parties, outings to special places, make meals that need lots of ingredients and preparation and look beautiful before they are devoured, and a wardrobe full of pretty gift wrap, trinkets, special gifts for specific people that I've found months before I need them.

I know these kinds of acts take a lot of time to plan and more energy than anyone ever appreciates but it seems the rewards are long held memories and connectedness. In the meantime, I'm thinking about ways I can make some space for these things in our lives now rather than thinking we'll get to it someday.

Your turn.

xoxo,
Rachel

Gosh - it's such a hard question! I'd like to devote more time to travel around the world if I had more money - more time to crafting if I didn't have to work a 9-5 - more time to learning new things. Learning to slow down is tough though, but that's what I'm working on!

love your blog by the way - hope the pregnancy is going ok!

I try to look for things on sale all through the year for gifts and even gift wrap. Target's clearance is fantastic for pretty wrapping paper and tissue paper!- just a suggestion. :)
As for what I'd do if I had more money/time: I'd buy a house and quit renting, I'd spend more time out with my husband and less time at home cleaning, and I'm sure I'd become a momma and stay home as one. I'd write more if I had the time, and travel places to see loved ones that I don't get to see due to working/finances. This is starting to sound like a blog post in itself, so I may just need to turn this into one. :) Thanks, Rachel.

I would definitely travel more. With friends and family. Seeing new things, going on new adventures. Enjoying every moment. I'd also craft more...to give to others and send pretty packages to all my friends all the time!!!

I would decorate my house to my heart's content. I have a pretty old house that could be a beautiful old house, but no time or money right now to work on it. I love have people over though so a well decorated comfortable house is important to me.

Baring that, I'd take some really lovely vacations with my husband. We're doing Ireland next year and i can't wait!

Travel for sure. I don't see enough of the world because of lack of money. I'd love to see more and be able to check out new places each year.

Oh gosh, I daydream about what I want my future to be like everyday when I have more time and money. I guess I'll share.

If I had more time and money, I'd definitely get working on growing our family. My son is getting too big, too fast. I know you know the feeling, its scary! I'd move to a small town close to the ocean. We'd find the perfect victorian house with a wrap around porch and plenty of land to have a big garden, that I'd constantly be decorating and redecorating. I'd have my own flower shop/bakery/art gallery/art & hair studio, thats really laid back so no one would mind if my family was there, and I'd work as little as possible. I'd spend the most of my days at the beach, watching my family play, the hubby surf. Ahh, yes. :)

Silly, I suppose, but I think we all dream of something similar!

i would love to run a project for children that are traumatized. building them a home, a shelter. a place full of joy and love where they can simply live in peace. surrounded by professionals who can help them.
i don't know, maybe it's because of my profession (social worker) but i believe that children are the best people in the world. so they need to be protected.
second, i would open a shop. :) a lovely place where you can find super cute stuff. every now and then i would run a cupcake party and have crafty nights with the people that are interested. (hum, seems like you & the RVA girls are living my dream :D )

but besides that, i have to admit: i'm happy. :) i am really blessed.
thank you for making me think of what might be. made clear to me that i already have so much! :D

if money and time were not an issue...

i would spend my days junk shopping, creating art, getting together with friends to create, selling my good on etsy, and just overall having time to do what i love... create, repurpose, etc.

If I had time and money, I would travel and share with people who have no hope, the hope I get from Jesus Christ, not a forceful way, but even just a hug in a time of need for a brother, sister, mother or child. Just to give everyone myself.

That is a beautiful list. And, yes, I agree we need together for coffee sometime. Maybe Breese and I can take an antique shopping road trip up your way!

I think about this a lot too - especially with today's economy. If money weren't an issue, I'd make it so my family could live closer to each other. I don't think I would change my occupational goals (I am studying to be a high school math teacher), but I would definitely take advantage of the off-season by traveling A LOT! OH, and build up on our house and incorporate a HUGE-ish craft room... ah, I can only dream!

ps The word verification I'm required to type in is "mingly". I've never gotten one that actually looks like a word... interesting! Just a little randomness for today...

I think of this question all the time, what would I do if only...and what can I do now.
I think it is all down to time and allowing yourself to let in your dreams. Putting the things that stress you or take your time away into a chill out zone so that you can enjoy the little things.
Would love to go to Paris - maybe go for a long walk in the city and eat chocolate crepes..the washing will get done tomorrow.
Would like to cook a beautiful meal but only managed eggs for dinner - bake a cake or a beautiful pudding.
My son was diagnosed on Monday with Autism, which has changed all our worlds upside down. My wish is for time. Time to stop for awhile so we can catch our breath and work out our plan.

For myself i would see more of the country and travel.
If I had a lot more time (like could quit my job) I would like to do more volunteer work; i feel very blessed in my life and want to give back, but find myself running out of hours in the day.

If I could, I would...
- travel the world and take fabulous pictures
- blog about my every thought of every second
- raise a wonderful family
- garden (never done it)

Oh goodness, I daydream about that kind of thing on pretty much a daily basis!
Of course I'd want to travel... ideally in a vintage VW camper van, all across Canada & the US, with a few private-plane trips to South America, Europe, India and Asia, and a Caribbean cruise thrown in for good measure :)
I'd love the be able to have a large home where I could host themed parties at least once a month.
And in all my spare time I'd run a neighborhood cafe/boutique where I also sold my favourite books and magazines, my handmade jewellery and other fun little gifts.
Oh! And I'd also like to have my own little home-based daycare where I could look after all the babies that my sister and friends are having right now :D
That's all :)

oh, and I would get more tattoos also :D

Mine might sound selfish but I would emply someone to help around the house, with housework and cooking, so that I could work while my children were at school, then spend more time with them when they are at home. Working from home is a tough gig - some help would be wonderful. That would be my dream if I had more money. x

these responses are all so inspiring!

i don't really have my dreams pinpointed...i just know they're there. I think I hope the most for life to be wonderful (and for me to realize that it is) even with all its difficulties and mishaps. i want to stay close with the people i hold most dear.

I'd incorporate an antique letterpress. There's lots of other things I'd like but this is something I've really wanted for a while.

This is such an awesome question to think about...I know that if money were no question, I would want to be a full time artist with out a day job :).

I would love to travel the country (and world) to reconnect and spend time with friends and family spread out everywhere. Or, I'd have a place on the lake with plenty of room for guests. If money weren't an issue, friends and family could come to me without cost to them.

Really though, having unlimited money would probably not be a dream come true. It'd likely make things worse and I'm quite happy now living modestly. :)

Travel! I haven't been to many places and neither has hubby. Working and saving are a priority around here so travel would be something we definetly wouldm like to do more if we could! Great question!

It's funny what we want in what seasons. Ditto for me on the hosting social gatherings. We are coming out of a time of having--by choice. "Having" often means less time and energy for the things I trruuullllyyy love, like personal time and quality time--a comodity for many. So now, we're stepping back, and going for broke, for awhile literally. But we're always provided for. We're mostly being better stewards of the much we have; changing perspective on what "much" is.

Our heart is to pursue what we love, what God called us to, and with what we have, support the many things we believe in. I am inspired by people who give away 90 percent of what they make. Not just supporting in word causes, but looking around and seeing people in my community, investing financially, with time and relationship. I believe it's what made the Greatest Generation great. I just read about in WWII, people donating their decorative iron fences when iron was in short supply.

Seasons in different lives are neat. I can appreciate all of mine, and this is by far the most exciting and adventurous. Kudos to you in yours.

i would spend more time wandering around lovely places with lovely people creating a nice place to be, and filling my life and the life of those i care about with beautiful, meaningful things.

also, maybe if i had more time, i could actually keep up with my online buddies & make more art!!! haha.
