VIntage Infused

A few more burp rags made from vintage bedsheets and tablecloths for Ruby.

They measure about 9" x 20" and all have matching Tiffany blue tabs. I love how they look stacked together in a bunch and shall probably make another batch before she gets here. I'm not sure I can have too many and there is still no shortage of vintage sheets in the studio as I keep finding more. In fact, I picked one up last weekend at a flea market that was still in its original packaging and was suddenly inspired to make Ruby's crib sheets out of these prints.

We've had thunderstorms all night which means Sebastian has been out of his bed five times for various reasons, the last of which involved changing out HIS sheets. Between that and a little girl with hiccups and the tendency to rearrange herself as soon as I drift off to sleep, this Mama has had one long night. What else does one do when one should be sleeping but can't? Blog.

Here's to a lovely Thursday!
xoxo,
Rachel

p.s. If you've got a DIY home project or something crafty and original that you're particularly proud of or have recently been inspired by on someone else's blog, send me an e-mail with a link. I'd love to showcase some great work over the next few weeks and know you all are a talented bunch so don't be shy! My e-mail can be found above on the contact page.

What do I do when I should be sleeping but can't? Sometimes I check my e-mail or read blogs. Sometimes I read. Usually, I just toss and turn and fret about the fact that I "should" be sleeping!

The burp clothes look great. You are absolutely right that you can't have enough of those things!

I LOVE these burp cloths!! I have a huge stack of material that has had "burp cloths" name stamped on it for a while, but I'm having a hard time coming up with a soft material for the back... do you mind me asking what you use? I had found some really really soft terry cloth that I had been using, but now all I can find is the rougher terry cloth... any suggestions? :D

Christen,
I've been using the really thick, old cotton table cloths that I find in flea markets (plain white) but I've also used chenille in the past, as well as flannel.

I've never liked terry cloth but I know it's really absorbent. Good luck with your search!

I love these stacked up, too! I don't know what it is about stacks and piles of pretty fabric, but I can't get enough!

Jenny,

Emery was one of our girl names when we were pregnant with Sebastian. I love it! Congrats on your little girl!

beautiful blankets Rachel. I love tiffany blue. It is my favourite colour. :)

I saw this on one of my daily reads - Kootoyoo. Kirsty made this spool holder and I am making one at the moment with all the ikea pencils I have collected over the years. I just have to get my hubby to hang it for me. This is Kirsty's - she is fantastic.

those are super cute!
however....I was going to give you a link to something you might like to try in regards to your armoire?
If you like that old look (that one sees via anthropologie!) try painting it with milkpaint. You can look through the gallery to get some ideas, but it is a safe paint & makes finishes on products look REALLY true to their age (i.e. beautiful!)
