GIVEAWAY!!!

Dixie from DixieDIY makes candles with yummy scents in cool, colorful, vintage glass containers. Each candle is one of a kind and uses clean burning soy wax with a lead-free hemp wick. These candles will compliment your other vintage decor and make any room smell great!

All you have to do to win your choice of one of her fabulous handmade candles is leave a comment in this post about your favorite Fall tradition OR guilty pleasure treat. Unfortunately, she can only ship to the US and Canada. The candles don't do well on long trips overseas where heat and humidity can mess with the wax. The winner will be chosen on Friday and notified so be sure to leave your e-mail or link to your blog so we can get in touch.

My favorite Fall tradition is decorating the porch with pretty flowers, pumpkins, or an occasional hay bale. I also can't resist a handful of candy corn whenever it's available or a caramel apple as long as it's Granny Smith. I plan on both happening this month. Pumpkin Spice lattes are right up there with the candy corn. Oh, and something about Fall makes Carrot Cake cupcakes with cream cheese frosting seem necessary. Can you tell I've got a sweet tooth?

What's yours?

xoxo,
Rachel

I saw in a blog about a year ago where someone built a city out of newspaper on the walls to one room. My dream city is Seattle, so last winter I built one on my wall. I'm really excited to make really pretty autumn construction paper leaves to put around my city. I think it will make my place more cozy, because sometimes seasonal depression likes to interfere with life.

My favourite fall tradition is definitely Halloween! My friends and I dress up and have a party filled with treats, scary music and apple bobbing!

I must confess that when this fall weather hits I definitely can't resist a Tim Hortons French Vanilla or a Starbucks Vanilla Latte.

I also can't resist wearing all my favourite fall clothing :-)

I hear you on the sweet tooth - mine is something terrible right now. And I can pretty much avoid sweets any other season!

My guilty pleasure right this very minute is cinnamon caramel apples - I'm serious, the addition of cinnamon in the caramel makes these to die for. So yummy.

rachel: this is off topic, but trader joes makes the best carrot cake muffins with cream cheese frosting! yum!

my favorite fall foods are maple cookies -- the ones shaped like little maple leaves with frosting in the center. mmmm. also, pumpkin gelato, which i discovered when i ordered pizza one night (i love that my pizza place delivers gelato!)
my favorite fall thing to do is to walk on the trail underneath the colorful autumn trees, with a coffee in hand. apple cider also works. the leaves are just starting to turn here in seattle, and this is on my list of things to do tomorrow! even if it rains :)

Those candles are so, so lovely!

My favorite fall tradition is picking out pumpkins at a local pumpkin patch! Carving pumpkins has always been something special to me so I love wandering around a pumpkin patch, squishing my feet in the fallen leaves, and finding that perfect pumpkin that isn't quite round, but rather oval shaped so I have more room to carve on!

I'm always a huge fan of pumpkin spice lattes, and Brach's autumn mix of candy corn and mini pumpkins!

THE CIDER MILL.. is definitely a favorite tradition of mine that i have carried out since childhood.. i love being outside at a farm-like cider mill where there's plenty of trees with falling leaves. Then there is the real deal cider and donuts. I especially like finding a cider mill that has the plain donuts that taste just as good as the sugar ones. :)

My favorite fall tradition is making loaves of my grandmother's recipe for pumpkin-chocolate-chip bread! The first weekend that really feels "autumnal", I spend a day in the kitchen making loaves for all my friends! I wrap them up and deliver them by hand. My friends have come to expect these loaves each year. It's my way of celebrating friendship -- and a yummy treat! (And of couse, my favorite season: fall!)

My mom has a recipe for the best chili and homemade corn bread. We make it in the morning, put it in the crock-pot all day long, and when we get home, we have a wonderful meal. Eating this and watching Edward Scissorhands and Sleepy Hollow.

Also, homemade apple butter, carving pumpkins, scarves and sweaters, s'mores, and pumpkin frozen yogurt. I love autumn! I cannot wait to put that extra quilt on my bed to keep me warm!

In addition, I plan to make:

Ah, yes. Fall! It's a great time of year, especially here in Texas. The weather is still warm, but with a nice breeze. Since my friends and I are all still in college/grad school, it's also a busy time for us, but the first month of November is when our October, November, and December birthdays all get celebrated. Our group picks a major city and spends a weekend there, shopping, seeing the sights, and the nightlife. Besides this tradition, homemade pumpkin pie and cranberry relish show up at the family get-togethers. Can't beat family and good food!

My family owns a pumpkin farm so although fall is one of the busiest times of the year it is also my favorite. I love spending all that quality family time picking & cleaning pumpkins & gourds.

My favorite fall tradition is leaf peeping with a pumpkin spice latte in hand. In Colorado you see a lot of the bright yellow aspens but not the full range of reds, oranges, purples, etc that you get back east where my family lives. I really miss the crisp fall air, the beautiful leaves, and going to a football game......

Since autumn is my favourite time of year we have so many traditions...We go for a fall drive out to Mennonite country to see the change of leaves, we pick pumpkins and apples and then come home and make fresh pumpkin pies and muffins to freeze. We make apple pies and eat more than just the "apple a day" for a l-o-n-g time :) We make wine with my parents that is always something we look forward to and has been a tradition since I was a young child. Roasting chestnuts on sunday afternoons...
I LOVE Fall...

Well, this is the second fall I'm spending with a family of my own so not many traditions are yet in place, but we love going to harvest festivals and pumpkin patches. This year, a tradition I hope my son will grow to love and continue, we are having a harvest festival 1st birthday party, complete with pumpkin patch at a park. :) I am so excited to put into play all the plans I have! Autumn yummies, Halloween games, and even one of those snazzy photo boards with the faces cut out, in the characters of Jack & Sally. (His favorite movie. He's such a pumpkin baby!)

Bridget KD said...

My favorite tradition is to put out a pumkin display on my front porch and then peek out the window and watch the squirrels eat the pumpkins! Last year, they ate the pumpkins literally down to the stalk (which fell into my flower bed) and the very bottom (which was like an orange disk on my porch). At first I was mad, but then I decided it was more entertaining to watch their antics and live and let live.

My favorite treats would have to also be carrot cake cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. Also a hearty stew or soup. Or curled up under one of my mom's amazing crocheted blankets. So excited about this season.

my FAVORITE Fall tradition is going apple picking with my boyfriend. We lay down in the orchard and just soak in the amazing-ness of fall! We always buy a pumpkin too! And we go home, make apple crisp, and cook the pumpkin seeds! :)

I love making clove encrusted oranges. Sounds odd huh? I first made them in Girl Scouts eons ago, have loved the scent ever since. You basically take an order and toe a thin ribbon or string around it and push in whole cloves. Then hang them where ever you want that fantastic smell. :-)

My favorite tradition is "family" Thanksgiving. It started my freshman year of college when a few of us had to travel too far to go home so we stayed and made Thanksgiving dinner in the dorm. Over the last three years it's grown to be a really big deal. This last year we had five different ovens going over a 12 hour period in preparation! We all make a recipe passed down by our grandmothers. We all gather around a table (which our freshman year was a ping pong table in the basement) and put pumpkins in the middle of the table for decoration.

Candles are a BIG part of our holiday tradition.... currently we have pumpkin aroma filling the house along w/the windows open and a fresh cool breeze filling the house too!
Pumpkin pie that is made w/creamchesse is my favorite holiday tradtion as well as a yummy sweet potatoe casserole that we make that has walnuts, brown sugar and is topped w/powdered sugar. It's more like a dessert than side dish but it's my favorite!!! xo

I also love making homemade chili and cornbread on a cool evening, decorating my house for fall, lighting yummy smelling candles and putting the kids to bed as soon as it gets dark so the hus and I can cuddle up and watch a movie. Oh, and of course I LOVE dressing for fall with scarves, sweaters from Anthropologie and cute boots. I just wish I lived in a place where it would get colder!
Thanks for the giveaway!!

My favorite fall tradition is decorating for Halloween! My parents started seriously decorating my house for Halloween when I was in junior high school, and I only really appreciated how awesome it is when I was away for school. We are now THAT house on the block that all the kids come to for Trick-or-Treating. :)

My favorite fall tradition when I was a kid was helping my parents rake leaves (a chore I never whined about doing) into a huge pile, then jumping belly-flop style into them over and over again. The warm colors, the textural cruuunch of the leaves, and, oh, the smell...
Now, it's my favorite fall tradition to watch as my little cousins perform the same time-honored ritual.

My favorite thing about fall is defiantly the color palette that comes with it. I love the chilly frosty morning accompanied by a hot cut of hot tea. I love cuddling my dog while reading a book guilt free cause the weather is so bad. I love watching the snow get lower and lower on the mountains. Oh yeah and the apple pie, I love apple pie.

Attending the Columbus Day fair!

A small town in Massachusetts nestled between "the five colleges" turns Columbus Day weekend into a three-day-long weekend of tag sales and a craft fair. The craft fair is set up on the village common and the shops surrounding it open their doors to everyone to step in when the crisp air gets to be too much. I'm looking forward to carry around a chai latte with me while I browse with friends all of the crafts and meander down College Street stopping in every driveway to browse the tag sale goods.

Oh my, favorite Fall tradition....
Enjoying the beautiful trees and drinking at least one cup of mind-blowingly amazing apple cider! :-) Ah, but I adore everything else about Fall as well! Like there are certain movies that are best watched during the Fall, like You've Got Mail. Always have to make sure to go down the Fall movie list!

The candles are so unique! Count me in! www.eandkmcg.wordpress.com

I am completely in love with fall. But one of my favorite fall traditions...
Has to be just the colors that you start to see everywhere. Such rich, luxurious colors! And the combination of color you start to see in your own backyard. Our backyard ends up looking like a painting, it's beautiful.
Oh. And picking golden rod and putting them in mason jars.

My favorite fall tradition is Fort Verde days. We get up early and either get ready to be in the parade or just go to watch it. For as long as i can remember we have went to Fort Verde days. My grandma used to ride her horse in the parade and I would ride on the pooper scooper 4 wheeler and throw candy and we always got to dress up as something fun. After the parade is over we go to the carnival and ride the rides and eat all the fun food from homemade fry bread to homemade ice cream. There is a bull ride and dance in the evening and the kids get to ride sheep during the day. My cousin even makes it a holiday that her and her ex have to split the custody of their son over.I just cant imagine my fall without it.

My favorite fall tradition is a fairly new one - but delicious! This is the time of year where every coffee shop has a pumpkin flavored drink or treat, and pumpkin flavored creamer is available in the stores. There is little better than a crisp morning spent with a book and pumpkin coffee.

My dad used to take my sister and I "conkering" in the fall. Conkers are the Brit word for chestnuts. He had an old army bag and we would go to the part of town that had the most chestnut trees and fill up the sack. We did the same with acorns.
I do this with my daughter now......the little acorn caps make sweet doll or fairy bowls.
