Hello! Hello! My name is Candace & I usually blog over at Sparkle Power about my life as a mommy, crafter, thrift store shopper & Etsian. I am so excited to guest post here at Smile and Wave today & am so, so thankful to Rachel for having me. I just adore Rachel & I wish her family the best as they welcome that new, sweet babe into their family. What an exciting time!
Being married to a graphic designer has really opened my eyes to type or letters & words in the world around me. Dylan, my husband, likes to point out type on signs or buildings that he finds beautiful or cool. He takes photos as he walks around town & I've noticed that many of his photos contain type. I've also noticed that much of our combined design work contains type. I've come to realize that we like words, we think that they can be beautiful, and they make up a big part of our style. Bringing together our love of type & my love of fabric, I created the razzle dazzle garland pictured above.
I'm wondering...if you could have any word or phrase hanging on your wall in the form of a fabric letter garland, what word or words would you choose? Let me know in the comments section. I will choose my favorite & send them all three of our 2010 printable calendars! Be sure that I can access your e-mail address from your comment or profile link.
The winner will be announced on Nov. 11th when my graphic designer husband, the other half of Team Sparkle Power, guest posts here on Smile and Wave.
:)

Mine would say "Lets do things!"
I hate people sitting around bored - get up and do something fun! :)
i would want "you're hot" to hang up over the fireplace... actually just the thought of that makes me happy.
i love the phrase, "you are not lost, you are here."
i think that would be a nice thing to come home to on the not-so-hot days.
"peanut butter + jelly" :)
mine would say:
"i collect good people"
I would want to quote Kimya Dawson with a banner that read "Remember I Love You."
twitter.com/kelseyleftwich
i would have it say, "i miss you." because who doesn't like being missed by someone?
"Stay hungry, Stay free"
That's what I would want on my wall, I am thinking of having it tattooed as well. You have to stay hungry for what you want, and stay free and not be tied down to keep you from doing what you want.
"Today, I will shine." It provides a nice pick-me-up, don't you think? :]
You guys should start a book of quotes. I love all of these.
Mine would say " Be Yourself!"
Have a wonderful day!

"I carry your heart with me"
Mine would say "Joy in the journey" Unoriginal, I know. But so so important to remember to be just happy in the moment!
"Miss Maggie" I want it to hang on my baby's crib.
Well, I just put up a fabric garland in my son's nursery that says "vroom vroom" (it's transportation/vintage car themed). Does that count? :)
My word is "Timshel" the Hebrew word for "thou mayest". It inspires me to know that I have the power, and that any given moment I can start again because "thou mayest".
Timshel is so pretty to say too.
http://timshel.org/timshel.php
I would have "Sparkle With Love"
janel.maclean@gmail.com
mine would be "love is all you need" I've said that to myself a lot recently
"You Are Perfect"
Something nice to see when you're not feeling your usual self-esteem ;)
something like...
take time from doing to enjoy being
courage
I would love "Oh Happy Day" I made a banner like that for my daughter, but it's ugly, I want one of yours. ;-)
I love Razzle Dazzle because it makes me start singing that song from Pete's Dragon "It's a Razzle Dazzle Day.."
"Welcome to the Chaos"
as we welcome our 3rd baby girl this month!
Mine would either say FAITH or BELIEVE because sometimes you just need to remember to have Faith and Believe that everything happens for a reason :)
such great quotes! mine would have to be "be still and know" or "family time" to hang over our bed. we all chase eachother down the hall and jump on our bed and hide under the covers and laugh and tickle and giggle. we LOVE family time!
Mine would say
"Today is the Day..."
xx
Mine would definitely say "Walk by Faith."
PEACE AND FREEDOM
If I had a banner, I'd want it to mean something to my family. And so, in honor of my 4 year old (Peace) and nearly 2 year old (Freedom) daughters, my banner would read their names, which also happen to be the life qualities we wish most for the rest of the world.

mine would most definite be "somethin's goin on"!
my grandpa use to say it all the time when he was in a good mood and excited. he passed away 3 yrs ago and when something fun happens we always try to say "somethin's goin on". miss him.
"Live Life Simply." This is my motto for the way I want to live. lesliepoe@gmail.com
"Apples and Applesauce" When my husband and I were dating it was our code word for I love you because we were young and people just thought it was puppy love.
Mine would be "Keep on Keepin on"
You know were I stay ;)
I'd love to hang 'Beware of a crafty mama!' from my wall...;)
Thanks for this giveaway! I love the calendars!
"JOY"
mosier at gmail dot com
Candice...you know I love your stuff! What a great giveaway!
I love the Keep Calm and Carry On posters and have seen them a lot more now that we live in Scotland. A lot of the official merch is too expensive for my budget, so I think a banner with those words would be delightful!
Oh, and I'm moving back to the USofA in 6 short weeks so I'm hoping I can still enter!
Mine would say "More than the Sun" because we always say we love each other more than the sun!
Mine would say, "Shine, Shine, Shine!"
..and hugs and kisses to you, Rachel, if you're welcoming little Ruby into the world as I write!
"boom roos vis"
The first three words I learned to write. These are the dutch words for tree, rose and fish.
i would want mine to say "be love." because that is a phrase i try to live by everyday!! OR maybe "serendipity", because i have always loved the sound and meaning of that word! :)
"love grows here"
because I love my husband and kiddos oh so very much and it just keeps growing. :o)
"do hard things"
that's kind of our family motto.
"I will rejoice and be glad in it!"
kind of long...hmmm
I guess if I had to I would cut it down to,
"I will rejoice"
was one of my mimi's favorite bible versus and she would sing it to me when i was little, and we would clap happily.
One of my happiest memories, and a darn good motto to live by.
This is the day that the Lord hath made! I will rejoice and be glad in it!
i would want mine to say "dream, live and laugh"
oh man... only one? hmm...
i always thought it would be cute to have the words "one joyful pilgrim" hanging up over my couch. : )
its my email address too.. lol
amanda
onejoyfulpilgrim@yahoo.com
"audacem faciebat amor"
it's latin and says love made her bold.
it's one of my favorites.
I have a few that have rolled off of my tongue to people lately.
"Go and have a colorful life friend."
"Trendy is being who you are" (I have decided to change what "trendy" can mean)
"Remember the child in you" because I believe if we think like we did as a child we'd have more fun, and probably re-visit so many likes and dreams. :)
Mine would be "If only you try.."
Those are the last few words in my favorite Dr. Seuss quote. ("think left and think right. Think low and think high. Oh the thinks you can think if only you try")
sari.addison@gmail.com
My word would be "Liberty"
For my family it has so much meaning.... Being in Australia, the word Liberty is not everywhere like it is in the USA.
My words of choice are 'Kipper & Burd' simply because they are mine and my brand new husbands names for each other... They sum up eternal smiles for me every time they are used so why not hang them on the wall for all to see! Lovely to read your guest post on Rachel's blog! X.
"you're the colour of my world"
cauthen.ashley@gmail.com
"enjoy life"
that way when i see it, it will remind me to stop and enjoy where i am at and what i am doing.
mine would say: "just so you know, you are my whole world..."
cute idea! :)
Welcome, Candace!
I'd put up the garland "Soar Beyond" cause i love the sentiment of going as far and fast as you can, enjoying every moment as it passes.
I would hang a banner above my crafting table that says "believe in yourself"
I would love to have "Learn to live then forget everything and learn to love" hanging on my wall.
Love is so important in life, I don't think you can be truly happy without it.
i would have it say 'dear love' i have always loved those two words together, i'm not sure why...
LOVE LIFE
one of my favorite songs, and just a good little phrase in general.
Mine would say, "Let the wild rumpus start!" for our dining room. :) With 3 wild things, it's very appropriate.
"You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think."
..to hang in my daughers' bedroom.
Hi Candace - so awesome to see your guest post here! Your banner is absolutely beautiful. I saw the ones Rachel linked to via here and have been wanting to make one for my home ever since. Mine would say..."It's beautiful here". I also wanna make one that says "Merry Christmas! I can feel it in the air now...counting down the weeks :)
Have a beautiful day!
Karen xx
Oh boy, some lovely ones already.
I just want 'Come inside, the weather's fine'
How about Carpe Diem?? I have always loved that one!
"our cup runs over"
that would be just perfect! :)
Mine would be "Don't ever give up on hope"
Mine would definitely say "get crafty. it's fun."
(Which is an Amy Tangerine quote.)
that makes me want to make one....
:)
Make Stuff
"just breathe" is something I need to look at often!
" Create", " believe" , " dream" these would be my choice of words. They have inspired me over the years. Thanks!
xoxo
barrigacindy@yahoo.com
i would choose: "celebrate gorgeous moments" in the living room because that's usually where i have my dance parties. :-D
mandypederson@gmail.com
mine would say "you look pretty"
:)
jessy_lozano@rocketmail.com
I made one of these as well, and my favorite word (that I chose for my kids' wall banner) is :Selah, which means "wait, reflect on what was said or read, peace". What a cool word, huh?! You can read about it/see it here.

Fun giveaaway!!
Sarah M...ssmast@hotmail.com
"DO THE DISHES"
I would choose 'Joy Inexpressible'
(1 Peter 1:8) or 'Exceedingly Abundant'(Ephesians 3:20)
Simple reminders of how blessed we are.
kdulce@juno.com
"Be kind" :)
hi candace,
i love what everyone has come up with, and i love the banner!
i think i would want mine to say, "sweetness follows" to remind me when i'm having a hard day that there are good days ahead, and when i'm having a good day to stop for a second to appreciate it.
thanks!
I'm loving reading all of these. You guys are clever!
Let's keep them coming. :)
be happy
or
all you need is love
"olive juice"... funny i know! but that's what my hubby and i say instead of i love you... and now it's shortened to "juice" :D and now that's what our kiddos say! xo.
"Love Abides"
What a cute contest! Maybe I'll make a nice sign someday! Great idea!
"Eu te amo"
It's how my boyfriend who only speaks english said i love you for the first time because he was too scared to say it in english :)
It also reminds me of my family and home whom I've only seen once since I moved here from brasil 11 years ago due to money issues :(
It would be comforting in so many ways!
Mine would say "drama llama" that's a way to keep a smile on your face when everything seems to be tragic :)))
ha!!
i would choose "carpe diem" (a:
have a nice day!
XOXOXO.
Share Everything
I wouldchoose 'Love and Happiness' to remind me on bad days that these are the only two things I really need in my life...
Mine would say "Question Everything." Its just kind of a personal motto. Questions are so valuable, and rather than the typical "Question Authority" I think you must... question everything!
Love this post.
I love the phrase "Oh Happy Day!" on mine. Hope to win.
Thanks for posting it.
I have a canvas on my wall that reads "all because two people fell in love" and it hangs above collage pictures of both of my girls first year of life, 3, 6, 9 and 12 month professional photos, it's one of my favorite decorations in my house. :)
"impending doom"
:)

emilybruchert1126@yahoo.com
"Rapture"
I don't know why I love it but it is one of my favorite words that I rarely use but feel is a powerful word and means so many different things to anyone reading it...
I think I would like "Be Wonderful" for my daughter's room. Love these and your calendars!
OOhh would love to put up " Its Gonna Be A Bright Sun Shining Day!" in my craft room..Just make me smile :)
"be free and be sweet"
or
"be free and sweet"
those are two words that i try to live by every day. i believe they are the keys to happiness :)

"love exists"
from a quote I read in a book once. It reminds me that even if I'm not in love, there is still a lot of love in my life & a lot of love out there to find!
i have 2...
"you're my favorite" would be the first. i say that to my fiance on a daily basis. or...
"unfailing". i'm constantly writing or saying it to myself as a reminder that God's love endures no matter what.
Mine would say "Love Lives Here"
this was fun to think about. i think i would have, "my beloved is mine and i am his." it is engraved inside our wedding bands and i think it would be fitting to hang in our bedroom. maybe i should get working on this. :)
My word is happy! could u do love=life?
Above my desk I would have some words of wisdom from Douglas Adams: "don't panic". I could also probably use one that says "git er done". Can you tell that I'm supposed to be working right now?
What a lovely blog! I just discovered it today. I would love the following phrase:
"Traa dy liaoor."
It's Manx and means "time enough." I got to spend a week on the Isle of Man with a fantastic family, and they used this phrase frequently to remind them to slow down and enjoy the moment because there's always "time enough" for chores and other things that we sometimes focus on too much. I've loved the phrase ever since!
If I could have any word garland hanging in my home it would say "Love the Love You Have." The phrase comes from a song from a local band that just recently made it big. The phrase hits close to home for me though.

Chelsea
Mine would say something cheesy... like, 'go team!'
I thought of another one....
"cleanliness is next to godliness"
your hand in mine, we walk the miles.
i love that it's romantic but not syrupy.
we printed that on our wedding invites 7 1/2 years ago, and then played the duran duran version of led zeppelin's song as guests filled the church.
I am knitting a garland for my brand new house and it's going to say "I put the ART in party"
hmmmm...just one? I like "jeg elsker deg" which is I Love You in Norwegian and what my Scandinavian honey says to me!
