Let There Be Light!

These dark winter evenings will get me down no longer! I've seen people repaint old lamps before but never had the motivation to do it myself until last week. I found an old brass lamp base at Victory Vintage (where I found the $1 Diana) and made sure the wiring worked before I brought it home with me. I lightly sanded it, gave it three light coats of Krylon spray paint in Sea Foam, fitted it with an energy efficient bulb, and picked up a new lamp shade at Target after searching in vain for the right shape and size at thrift stores.

It's nestled on a vintage school desk that I had in my studio and shares some space with my blue Thermos collection (small but matching!) and one of my favorite vintage suitcases. This is probably the last time the desk space will be clean as I'm sure our camera cord, laptop, and Sebastian's travel DVD player will find themselves competing for space.

Thanks for stopping by and for all of your votes from the last post! I have the best readers!

I am totally digging that color! Love the lamp - but I probably would have hated it had I seen it before you painted. I'm trying to get better at seeing the potential in things like this rather than only seeing what "seems to be" ;)
