Thrifting In Springfield=Always Good

Elsie took me to a new favorite mini flea market in downtown-ish Springfield this weekend. I'd always wanted to go in but it was literally NEVER open. I'm officially a fan and hope to go back again soon to talk to a lady about a horse, er...table cloth.

So, I misread the price on these two jars and ended up paying more than I wanted to but in the end I'm so glad I brought them home because the faceted glass is lovely in the light and the little owls are charming.

Here are a few things similar to what I'm usually looking for:

Pretty chairs with floral upholstery.

You guys seem to have such good thrift shops in the States - Australia seems to lack in this area big time! Always on my list is vintage pyrex, fabric and kitchenware. And wallpaper. And little figurines. And anything owl-ish. Sheesh thats a lot on my list!

I collect vintage dresses, because its functional art! Especially if you can tell they were handmade, then I like to think about who the dress was made for and who made it and what they were thinking when they made it, then every time I would wear the dress I'd know that it has its own secrets and stories and that makes me happy :)

I have thrift shop envy. Always love your purchases and that you can walk away when you need to.

I always look for: train cases, mirrors, glass doorknobs, anything in the perfect orange, aubergine or taupe. Regularly come home with buttons and jars.

I'm always on the search for a typewriter in grand condition...preferably one that is an unique color. Old suitcases, fabric, buttons, cameras, and any piece of furniture that I can morph into something awesome for our little home.

It's always so fun to be on the hunt for something!

Hi.
Im always on the lookout for metal thermoses, 60s and 70s era glasses, vintage sheets, and vintage clothes. I've been following you for a while but this is my first comment! I'm also living in Springfield and wondered what thrift store these great bowls are from? Also, if you don't mind, what is the thrift shop you love that is off of I-44 near Joplin? I'm always looking for new flea markets! Thanks.
