Love Notes - Holly Hearts Ryan

Leading up to Valentine's Day I'll be posting stories from some of my favorite blogging friends in a series titled Love Notes. I'm a sucker for romance...

Ryan and I started dating even though we both knew that 8 months from then he had a trip planned to move to the Netherlands. He was going to live there for a year, work for a convention centre, and travel a lot... pretty much his dream. We knew the risk involved with beginning a relationship at this time but figured we would just make it work and see what happened. This was January 1st. New years day. As the year went on and August (his departing month) got closer, our relationship grew at a super speed. I was really not looking forward to him leaving for so long, especially when I was only 18! How could I guarantee a long distance relationship with him? We weren't sure what to do.

My graduation was over with, and July had come. I quit my job at the local Tim Horton's to spend as much time with Ryan as I could before he left. I walked up the steps to his house, and he came to the door with a different look on his face. He hugged me and I could feel his heart beating.... after a short silence he whispered to me. "I'm staying". :)
Obviously I was thrilled and knew my life was going to change. We were engaged just over a week later. It's been 5 years now.... and I still owe him that trip to Amsterdam. We'll travel there together one day.
I love him forever.

Holly is one of my two favorite Canadian friends (Hi, Leigh-Ann!) and is about to know the thrill of having a baby girl in their lives. Check out her cute bump and sweet family here.
