Love Notes - Jen's First Crush

Throughout the next two weeks I'll be posting stories from some of my favorite blogging friends in a series titled Love Notes. I'm a sucker for romance...

When I started the 7th grade, there was a new boy who had moved to town. His name was Cody. He sat next to me in math class, we shared a music stand in band (we both played the clarinet) and he was definitely the smallest and shortest boy in our grade. It was love at first sight. He wore a really cool macramé friendship bracelet that his sister made for him while she was in Spain, loved Jane's Addiction and knew the words to 'Unbelievable' by EMF.

We asked each other out (or maybe I asked him out) through word of mouth and before I knew it, I had my first real boyfriend. We exchanged notes in class, held hands a few times at football games and survived the awkward junior high slow-dance. I remember being really sad when he moved away a couple of years later, and I knew there would never be another Cody H. He was my first real crush and set the bar for all the boys thereafter.

You can find Jen and her cute family here. My husband and her husband both love all things Vespa. Jen, if one of your Vespa's goes missing you'll know where to look.

Rachel

I threw two boxes of notes from high school boyfriends away when I got married on principle that I wouldn't hold on to old flames but now I wish I would've kept them for a good laugh. It's like a diary of sorts as they capture how our crazy brains worked at that time in our lives.

THanks, Jen!

Awwww! I love this story! Especially since my husband and I met in grade school and have a shoebox full of notes folded just like that! Now I'm gonna have to pull it out and reminisce <3

I can still do the folded notes! I think there are two ways ... the one in the photo and another with the 'pull me' tab in the middle. It makes me wonder how these things get passed on to generation after generation of teenaged girls. ;)

(thanks Rachel ... this was fun.)

Aw, that's so sweet! I want to know what happened to him.. it's like a story in a book.

He's definitely the cutest little kid in those pictures. Wouldn't it be a shame if he grew up to be big and ugly?
