Throughout the next two weeks I'll be posting stories from some of my favorite blogging friends in a series titled Love Notes. I'm a sucker for romance...
Act I
Elsie and I had a lot of the same friends and met a few times but things never made it past a "Hey!" accompanied by a side-hug. I saw some pictures that Elsie had taken for some friends of mine so I decided to try to use that as an excuse to contact her. I got a little scared about writing a formal meet and greet email so I decided to go with a casual, "Hey, I noticed you like Air; they're great!" instead. Not my finest letter. Actually, quite possibly my worst; since she responded, "Sounds fun." (?) I guess she didn't actually read the whole sentence.
Act II
A few weeks went by and I didn't hear from her until my roommate's birthday. She was friends with him and wanted to bring him some vegan brownies. I let her know that Wess worked at Lenny's sub shop and she could drop them off anytime that day. So... I went over to Lenny's shortly after and sat at a booth- for about six hours. I was hoping to 'bump into her' there but it didn't happen. (Wess, you were a good friend to serve me my lunch AND dinner.)
Act III
I knew that Wess had Elsie's number and was a little embarrassed to actually ask him for it so I just peeked at his contacts and memorized it when he wasn't looking. Then I called her. I invited her to my studio and for a few hours she painted while I worked on a new song. A few days later, the song was named "Immovable", and I gave a copy of it to her. It worked.
-Jeremy
You can listen to a few more of Jeremy's songs here and see what pretty things Elsie's up to here. They are magical.
