Whenever I go thrifting (which, sadly, isn't that often) I'm always on the hunt for vintage cameras and typewriters. I've yet to find any amazing ones though. :[

I think my best find(s) has to be my "rainbow" Pyrex bowl set. I searched the local thrift shops high and low for many weekends and managed to find each one at some point or another. I resisted temptation more than once to just buy them at the over priced antique stores and I am so happy I did because I enjoy them even more knowing all the work that went into finding them.

OMG! I want those skates so badly! Awesome!

My favorite find... my cousin is having a baby. She loves Carebears. While thrifting for nothing in particular I found a care bear lamp... blue sleepy bear. SO CUTE! She loves it!

With a recently turned three year old it is difficult to thrift as often as i'd like but my favorite thrift find has to be a lovely vintage jumper for my daughter, Lily. There's just something about a vintage clothing item and the history behind it. I love imagining the child who previously wore it and wondering what kinds of trouble they got into wearing it.

so many treasures, I love thrifting. My favorite would be vintage Fendi purse for $1.99. :)

I had the large and small American Tourister suitcases once, but my ex fiancee got rid of the large one without my permission. :( Whilst thrifting one day I came across the vanity case for the same American Tourister set. Not only that.. but there was a note attached that she also had the large suitcase available! This made me so happy I actually cried. haha. I gave her a call and picked it up the next day. Now my set is complete! :D

one of my most favorite treasure finds, was found while on a cruise with the husband in Greece. We were on the island of Mykonos and riding around on scooters. I saw a shop that said "Antique with also a bunch of Greek around it", but knew we had to stop and take a peek. I'm so glad we did, because we found this amazing wooden bread dough form, and although it was mighty huge, we managed to pack it with ourselves on the tiny scooter, and head back to the ship. It's one of the greatest finds that I have, and how we got it home from our cruise is a whole other story!!

My dad has always done treasure hunts for the 'big present' at our birthdays, at least when I was little. I loved that! My favorite surprise thrift store find was a beautiful, bright Mexican blanket in Texas for $5. I had room in my suitcase and snatched it!

Krystle said...

My fav find was a black 1950's Del Monica record player...that WORKS. I can't take all the credit for the find though because my dad was the one who actually realized what we had found.

But my all-time favorite is probably the mini yellow slide projector screen we scored for 3.99. My husband transformed it into a christmas tree this year, and it was just amazing!

My favourite vintage find was kind of a "re-find". My mother had given away one of my favourite cloth dolls when I was a kid. She was made of pink gingham and had a hat that resembled the same hat I had to wear during my stays at the hospital when I was little. I was heartbroken that this doll was gone.

Well one day, I was walking down the street doing some window shopping, and guess who was looking at me through the window? My pink doll! She was a steal at 75 cents. I cleaned her up and she's a valued part of my family today.

I wear them when I want to feel super special and they always make a good impression at art college. [:

Years ago, when my collection of vintage Pyrex only took up three small shelves, I was thrifting with my sister when I rounded a corner and my.heart.stopped as I laid eyes on a matte black casserole dish with white snowflakes printed on it, complete with its lid. Maybe I was, but that piece still makes me excited when I see it, even though I have since aquired more of the same pattern.

My favorite find was a few years back at an estate sale in Connecticut. I found some antique silverware with my family initial. The sign said .05 per piece. I had about 40 pieces in my basket, but when they went to the went to add it all up, the lady said I could have it all for $1.00!! I was so excited! At that same sale, I found an old high school Home Economics text book! Chapters included how to, set a proper table, sew a hem, and how to clean your room, and proper grooming habits. I loved it!! my story about "pirate's booty" might be a little more literal than most...

my grandmother died of breast cancer when i was about 6, leaving me with precious few memories of her. one of my favorite memories occured when i was about 4 or 5. she and my grandfather lived on the chesapeake bay so there was a little beach in her backyard. one fall when my family was visiting she told me that she had seen pirates circling the bay in the evening. being an impressionable little girl i believed her. the next morning she walked me down to the beach and excitedly drew my attention to a bottle in the sand. within the bottle was a map of my grandparent's property with a big red X marking the sand a couple yards away. we raced over to the marked area and i shovelled into the sand a few inches until i hit a metal box. within the box were many exciting "pirate" treasures including a beautiful brooch. i was convinced that it was REAL pirate's booty, much to my grandmother's delight. i am so grateful that she managed to give me so many lovely memories in the little time that we had together. that was definitely my most memorable pirate's booty that i have uncovered in my life.
