Attack of the Tulip Trees

We came home late at night on Sunday so I could smell the perfume of the petals all over our yard and see that we'd had a lot fall to the ground in a rainstorm but I had no idea how beautiful it was until Monday morning. I swept our walk way around 10 a.m. and it was covered again that afternoon. The woman that lived most of her life in this home did a wonderful job of planning for Spring. It's almost a sensory overload at my house.

Those petals are deceptively slippery! I'm hoping Brett can mow them up before they all turn brown and slimy. We'll have the start of the prettiest compost pile on the block!

We had a lovely Easter weekend. I plan on sharing a photo heavy post on it soon but my house is sure to swallow us up if I don't first tackle the laundry and piles leftover from such a trip.

xoxo,
Rachel

p.s. Be sure to say hello to our April sponsors!

My mum just planted a tulip tree, something she has always wanted in her amazing garden. Can't wait for our Spring in Australia.

There's a tree like that outside my apartment where I park my car. Let me tell you, heels + slippery petals equals disaster! I nearly broke my neck yesterday walking across those suckers! Now I'll be going out of my way to avoid them:)

Wow, so gorgeous! I don't think I could leave my front porch if I lived there. I love our little cubby hole loft but it's posts like this--spring, grass, trees, flowers, compost piles--that make me long for a house.

i've never heard of a tulip tree. never saw one, either. but...this is the most beautiful thing! your pictures remind me of a fairy house or something. so magical, those lovely petals all over the ground. i'd love to be standing there when they fall like a colorful, light rain!

lucky you! i wish i had a yard that i could plant a magnolia tree in. i went out yesterday to take photos of one. having to sweep the walk would be worth it.

Compared to yours, my tulip tree is very very small. But I love her anyway. Spring is a little later her, but I believe she will bloom within two weeks. Can't wait.

I am soooooooo jealous! I LOVE magnolias. I planted one at my old house, and it took about 2 years to bloom. I saw it in 'full bloom' (3 flowers to be exact) once... last spring, and then we moved. Sadly, there is no place at the new house for a Magnolia. =(
Happy Spring to you and your family!
