Summertime, And The Livin's Easy

I found my Duaflex the other day while I was cleaning my studio space and realized I haven't been experimenting with it like I wanted so I took a couple of shots around the house. I think I'm going to use it at Sebastian's party to see how it captures people. Little people that don't stand still for very long.

I know some people like to use a contraption but I'm pretty happy with the images after editing.

And here's how it looked through the viewfinder without a contraption and before editing.

And this is how I'm going to do my hair all summer when I don't have time/want to wash it. Two little buns at the nape of my neck to tame the chaos.

I saw Leigh-Ann's new favorite summer hair trick. How do you fix your hair when the temps rise?

xoxo,
Rachel

  1. I love your curly hair! I usually twist my hair up in a bun, stick a pencil (or whatever's handy) through it, and take it down when I go out. Then it's all wavy and fun! Curled by the heat and humidity.

  2. Love those pictures..

That's how I've started doing mine for the summer!
(It's a bit of a bad habit actually, I've been doing it basically every day because it's so easy)

  3. I love the pictures, especially the first one with the dresses. Your hair looks cute! I have curly hair too, but it has been so frizzy from the humidity so I either braid it, or ponytail it.

    I love your blog! xoxo

  4. I have stick straight hair, so my only option is a messy bun or ponytail.

  8. headbands, headbands, headbands! its a good excuse to own an embarassing number of them, which i totall do - beaded ones, plain ones, jazzy ones, soft ones, thick ones, thin ones............ and the list goes on:)

  9. my hair and i are in a perpetual battle...so in the summer, i will wash, blow dry, and curl and then not wash it again for a few days...sounds gross to some but i find that with each day, the oil keeps my hair shiny and wavy rather than frizzy (i hate humidity). and to wear it up, i will twist into a low side bun and secure with a rubber band and/or bobby pins.

by the way, i think showering is SUCH a chore. :)

  11. Your curls are amazing! I have a-few-inches-from-my-butt hair and while wavy at times, it's pretty straight. I'm going to say 9 times out of 10, I just tie it into a bun with no hair ties or anything. It's long enough to do that so that's what I always resort to, though I wish it wasn't that easy so I'd actually have to go out of my way to style it on occasion!

  12. When it gets hot, I'm a bum. My hair (now that it's long enough) goes right into a ponytail. But when it gets even longer, I braid it to keep it out of the way :). I love your curly hair, mine is stick straight and, as a result, rather boring.

  13. I really enjoy that iconic "un-focused" vintage look you were able to capture with your camera, Rachel!

Photographs like those always seem to capture a really classic charm to them.

As far as summer hair, I've been bundling it up on top of my head when it gets too hot/I don't have time to *do* it. Your little buns at your nape are adorable!

  25. Pretty, pretty! And I looove your lil curly buns! I have to say, I whip mine up into a lazy bun when it gets hot out - it makes me feel lazy...lol...but keeps the neck cooler. :) If I had sweet curls I'd be tempted to copy you, right now. :)
