My Kind of Pumpkin

Isn't this graphic pumpkin fantastic? I prefer saving our pumpkins for porch decorations past Halloween and through the rest of November so we haven't carved any yet but I'd be happy to let Sebastian go to town with a sharpie on the one he brought home from the pumpkin patch. The kids in his preschool class got a chance to carve pumpkins and pull out their guts earlier this month. I'm pretty sure the kids who used to hate getting anything messy on his hands thoroughly enjoyed it!

How did you decorate your pumpkin(s)?

xoxo,
Rachel

My kids each want to carve theirs -- but, like you I'd prefer to keep them for after Halloween. I love pumpkins.

The pumpkin makes me think of JAck Skellington. :)

My husband does ours (and some for others, too) with a dremel tool. Last years were count chocula, boo berry and frankenberry. This year, we have a wild things pumpkin, and he did a death star for a friend. I put them on my blog the other day if you're interested in checking them out!

I love these pumpkins! I never have the time to decorate pumpkins, but these inspire me to at least try.

That looks GREAT! I always enjoyed painting pumpkins in school, as a kid. We would get those tiny "mini-pumpkin" looking things. I haven't done that in years. Maybe that's what I should be having the kids do instead....

I wrapped mine in lace this year. That way I can just unwrap it and keep it through Turkey day!

You can see it here:

speak of the devil.. I'm a third grade teacher and I brought in pumpkins today to open them up and pull all their guts out. It was part of math class so we could estimate how many seeds are inside. The kids were utterly grossed out and it ended up being a nasty activity instead of a fun one. :/ bummer.

We plan to carve the biggest one then paint a few of the smaller ones. Most of my decorative ones I plan to turn into pumpkin puree to make bread and pies!
