The Haul

The Haul
It's been two lucky weeks in a row for thrifting. My two favorite shops haven't been this exciting in months! I took the kids with me last night after dark when I NEEDED to get out of the house. I made a deal with Sebastian that if he was well behaved at the thrift store we'd go to the library and stop for ice cream on the way and that sealed the deal. Ruby, well...she wiggles out of those strapless carts about one minute into the treasure hunt and then I end up holding her and pushing my lop-sided cart down the little girl aisle, stopping every now and then to rehang the outfit Ruby has pulled from the hanger on the other side of the aisle. Sometimes I count it as my workout. HA!

The Haul
I picked up a pair of yellow suitcases with pristine insides, four of the eight vintage floral glasses, added two more amber glasses to our current collection of 8, a few little vintage pieces for Ruby and some pieces that are a few years away from fitting that will be sent to another vintage loving mama!

The Haul

The Haul

The Haul
Maybe I can distract you from their wrinkles with these pretty little glasses!

The Haul
I'm eight boxes down as far as packing goes and have a long weekend ahead with Brett at drill but I'm looking forward to a little birthday fun tonight with one bestie and a park date with another bestie tomorrow. Ruby has decided sleeping through the night cramps her style so we're hoping for early bedtimes in order to maintain the happy faces.

Update: Ruby intentionally just came over and kissed me on the mouth TWICE. Okay, I'm good for a week!!

Sending you happy thrifting vibes!

xoxo,
Rachel

I really like those glasses - nice print and color. I've had a LOT of luck lately too, but mostly because I've been looking a lot more again. I'm going to read your old posts because I'm really behind and want to know more about this moving thing you speak of :-D

Thrifting with one is hard, I guess I'll find out what you're dealing with soon enough!

SCORES!!

i got one of those cloth cart insert things for harry because of the lack of buckles on the thrift carts! he stands UP at 15 months, it was scary! now he's buckled in and the thing ties to the cart!

Great finds! It must be in the air this week, cause Wednesday, I found a full set of vintage boutonniere dishes (with the teal flowers) AND a full set of teal melmac dessert plates and bowls at two different stops! I've been collecting them piece by piece for the past few months and just hit the jackpot!

Ha ha! I can totally relate to the baby wriggling out of the cart. My favorite thrift store (one that takes at least an hour to get through) has no straps on the carts, so I regularly do the lopsided cart push while trying to hold a baby and grab treasures at the same time!

My son kisses me on the mouth about 10 times a day. It's so sweet. He always lays his head down on my shoulder after the kiss too.

It can cheer up even the most frustrated mama!

I recently found my first vintage sheets! Score!

LOVE the little gray skirt! I've been particularly lucky at the thrift store this week. It's the very best kind of retail therapy!

Great Haul! I love the plaid outfit!

I found a vintage Fisher Price house at Goodwill this week and thought of you and Ruby when I saw it! It was exactly like the one I had as a kid in the early 80s, and only $2.99 so I grabbed it as quick as I could!

You have to send some of that thrifting luck to me lady. I'm off in about an hour to do some scouring (yey!) with my awesome hubby who loves a bit of thrifting too (I lucked out there, right?!) I want those glasses. xx

Is it bad that I spent more time looking at your amazing pictures than thoroughly reading what you said? :) :) I love the way you take pictures!

Great finds. Love those glasses! And, I have such a weakness for vintage suitcases (my house is full of them) -- you found some good ones!

I would be in thrifting heaven with such fantastic finds!! Those suitcases are perfect and so are all the adorable outfits! And I've done the push-pull cart with four little ones in tow before and nearly had a heart attack when they almost knocked over an entire shelf of glasswares. I think the little old ladies that work in the store cringe when they see us coming :)

What great finds! I love those 2 suitcases - & the pretty glasses! I'v been wanting to go thrifting for months now, if only I could get a day off work that wasn't rainy so I could walk without getting soaked through!
Happy packing xxx

I'm jealous of your thrifting finds!! California doesn't have nearly as cool vintage as the midwest seems to :)
