Art Journal Classes Are Back!


This online art journal class includes eight tutorials for creating a mapped out, detailed, list with pictures of the potential this summer holds and the memories you want to make. You'll learn about layering techniques, color choices, doodling, how to incorporate detailed journaling, and learn how to cover your pages in color without spending a small fortune on supplies. The step-by-step instructions you'll receive in each tutorial make this class perfect for beginners while the journaling prompts and challenges sections will keep it interesting for seasoned art journalers.


There is no pre-requisite for this class. It starts June 1st and ends June 11th. You will receive a user name and password to the private class blog on May 25th. You can post your finished work and see what others are doing in our flickr group. Class will also include two private chats to answer class questions and share secrets!

Soon to be available are all three previous art journal classes from 2008. Each class uses unique techniques in the same style featuring individual art journal pages from my April art journal in 2008. They are being offered at a discount for those who were not able to take them the first time and will also be available in full on June 1st with passwords sent out on May 25th. Chats will not be offered for these classes as they have already been completed but questions are welcome through e-mail. rachel denbow (at) g mail (dot) com.


I'm really excited about this new 'Solemnly Swear' class because summer time is so full of potential and adventure and I'm a big fan of lists. Big fan.

    Yay! So excited! I'm wanting to sign up for all of them - but I'm having a little trouble.

    The first comes up fine, the "steady Hands, Faulty Heart" & "Steady Hands Sometimes Shake" both send me to the login page (even though I was already logged in). The "Faulty Hearts Are Lovely" is coming back with an error message.

    Is this something I may be doing wrong? :)

    Can't wait to get started on these! Thanks for offering them all :)

    I just signed up. I already do art journaling, but in a different form. I'm excited to learn a new technique! BTW, I got the info on this class from a previous student who recommended it to me. She has an amazing blog and can be found at www.julochka.blogspot.com.

    this looks great, rachel! honestly, i have never thought of myself as a "scrapper." i (incorrectly assumed that scrapbooking was just sticking corny pastel stickers on paper and writing quotes. the more i see your work (and the work of all of the awesome chickies floating around here), i realize that a lot of my stuff is similar in nature. i think i'm a "scrapper," afterall, and i love it!

    I am soooo happy that I signed up :)
    And then I realised that I am on holiday during the class. I am going to Greece for a week, so I will not miss everything :) This class works the same way as the spring class, right? So I can check it all a bit later?!

    I really want to take your class but I am out of town from June 1-4 and I leave for another trip on the 11th. Do you think it is a possibility? I guess I can wait for another one. I have been waiting until I was done with college to do some art journal classes and of course there is another conflict. Let me know and if not hopefully the next time will work. I love all of your work. You are truly an inspiration!

    The classes will stay posted after they are revealed so the only thing you'd not be able to take part in is the live chats. However, they will be in the comments section of certain blog posts so you can read them at your leisure.

    Not being able to follow along on the exact days shouldn't be a problem for anyone since the blog will stay up for many months.
