Hello! I'm Candace from Sparkle Power. Much Like Rachel, I am a crafty work at home mama & I am so excited to be sharing a guest post here today! I'm going to show you how to make a super cute & festive holiday doily garland.
For this project you will need some small doilies. Mine are 4 inches in diameter & I purchased them on ebay. You'll also need some yarn, starch & Rit dyes in whatever colors you'd like your doilies to be.
Following the directions on the dye package, dye your doilies whatever color you'd like & then lay them out to air dry. After dying my doilies, I decided that I'd like some in lighter colors as well, so I put half of them through a bleach & water bath for a few minutes & that did the trick! Once your doilies have dried, spray them each with starch & then iron. Now they are ready to string together!
The photo above shows how I strung the yarn through the doilies. Add a little dab of hot glue on each side of the doily to hold them in place & prevent them from slipping around on the yarn. It's as simple as that! Your garland is finished & ready for hanging.
The garland looks beautiful on it's own, but I think it looks totally magical with some white Christmas lights added in. I can see these looking so stunning over a dining room table. Imagine eating a festive holiday meal with twinkly lights & colorful snowflake like doilies hanging overhead.
