PonyParty Is Feeling Full

This blue pitcher reminds me of the airlines. I love how shiny and sleek it is.
This pretty lady seems to be good for turning those old home movies into DVD's with her variable speed control. Yes, variable.
I've got a white Christmas tree that these would look so pretty on but I can't be hoarding all of the goods. I may skip bulbs altogether this year and do something with felt. But they are so shiny...and bright...
This teapot and teacup set is the most lovely shade of pumpkin orange and would look fabulous next to a cinnamon scone or two.

I've been sadly neglecting my little pony the past few weeks but I'm changing my ways and working it back into the schedule. There are too many pretty things sitting in my IKEA bookcase to put it off for another day.

The little one is sick and Brett and I are feeling a little rough so we're taking it easy on Sunday. Kits need to be packed, a mini album for the SteadyHandFaultyHeart class needs to be posted, a quilt needs to be bound and we won't discuss the laundry situation. However, it is all going to be put on hold for some rest and wellness in hopes of renewed energy on Monday morning. This may include a movie. And lots of coffee.

Has anyone ever heard of putting Vicks Vapo-rub on the soles of your feet if you've got a bad cough? My grandmother shared this trick when Sebastian had a bad cold last year and it seemed to help him sleep better. I'm curious to know if we're the only ones?

I have heard the Vick's thing from my grandma via my mom..only it was between the toes and I think for congestion..anyway, I tried it in desperation but don't know if it really helped.

I love Vicks, I could sit and sniff all day lol
I had heard it and tried it, it works/helps. Also great for when you have cold feet and can't sleep :)

hey there,
yes this is so true and it works..you put vicks on the soles of your feet, not alot just you know enough and then put socks on and sleep in them. It helps by increasing the ciruculation, and for some crazy reason it works.
Hope you all feel better soon.

Hi Rachel,

Absolutely we are vicks on the soles of your feet people. My kids suffer from croup and get quite bad coughs, I always put vicks on their feet with a pair of socks, it helps a LOT. It is absorbed into the body much quicker this way too - I recently felt fluey so tried it on myself and it really helped me too. Hope you are all feeling much better soon - definitely give the vicks a go. x Janelle

We do the Vick's trick too. Also a trick we learned from my grandma. Another neat product is by PediaCare. It's called Gentle Vapors. It is a plug in unit and it fills the room with those vapors. My girls get a lot of colds, so we've tried everything! Hope everyone is feeling better soon.

Sometimes you just need Vicks!
And yes... we put it on our kids' feet if their congestion is particularly nasty. I've even 'Vicksed' my own feet and it does seem to help. Vicks and a pair of cotton socks and you're good to go!

Hey Rachel, Like the others I do the vicks thing to. I even put it behind my ears, in the bend of the arm, and behind the knees. When I'm sick..Oh and under the nose too.

I don't know about Vapo-rub but my mom gave me this antural cold rub on (that was probably like Vicks) and the instructions said to put it on your soles too. I did and got better pretty quick.

I remember someone telling me that if you put garlic in your shoes and walked around that in a very short time you would have garlic breath. Never tried that one tho. :)

i have also been told about the vicks thing by my mother in law. i tried it last year a few times, we were sick alot. it seemed to work sometimes, and not so much other times. poor little guy. there is nothing worse than a kid with a cough at night. wish he gets well!
p.s. i am drooling over those ornaments. you always have the loveliest finds! :)

rachel,
my mom just heard about the vicks trick last winter and told me about it when my little guy was sick. i think it really does help the coughing. weird. i also usually rub a little vicks on the inside of our humidifier so it makes the air a bit vapor-y. and you can also rub it on your chest and he'll breathe it in while you rock him.....
i hope you all feel renewed and well real soon!!
