This week we're potty training.

We're learning how to hold it until you can make it to the blue, plastic, Diego themed porta potty. We're learning how many pairs of big boy underwear, pants, socks and sometimes blankets can fit into the washing machine. We're realizing how cute little boy butts are when they only have on boxer briefs like Daddy. We're spending a lot of time at home in order to figure this out soon. We're really thankful for laminate flooring and quick learners.

We got rid of the pacifier last week. I'd say we're on a roll.

The above horror was the aftermath of Sebastian's book stacking session. I'd like to say I cleaned it up after I took the picture but I'm sure I let it sit that way until the next day.

Did I mention we're potty training?

Good luck to you! I remember when my sister was a toddler (I was going to be a senior in high school) and I went away for a week that summer and by the time I came back she was totally potty trained. Don't know what kind of magic my parents worked with her, but there was no turning back and she was good to go.

Oh my gosh, how cute! I can't wait to have a little boy. I'm starting to wean Saylor off of her binky here and there. It's hard being a mama sometimes!!

Good luck with the potty training!

their bottoms do look so cute in tiny undies:)
keep up the good work...
it's so wonderful when you get to put the diapers away
gives you a little extra money each month too...
unless you spend it on wee boxer briefs

:)

I looove the way you told this story! Great pic...

Wish we could say goodbye to my 3,5old daughter's pacifier. She only uses it to fall asleep at night, but we'd sure like to get rid of it!

And yes, those small bottoms look way cute!

(Love the only class by the way! Starting my first ever quilt this weekend!).

Ah...yes, we did that last summer. Once I stopped stressing he picked it up fast. :) I was thankful.
We are currently training him to saty in his own bed. Several trips back and forth, from our room to his each night. *sigh* Fun times!

Just the thought of potty training scares the crap out of me. that was a bad pun, but I assure you, it was slightly intended. :)

Boys are so much harder than girls, good luck! No carpet makes it so much easier! Another good trick is to get underpants with some favorite characters on them and talk about how they don't like to get peed on. Silly, but I swear it worked. -e

We are on a potty trainging kick here too! I just decided last sunday that he should be wearing underwear and he was just going to have to do it. Pull-ups were of NO help to us. He has been doing amazing! Now when I go out of the house I carry a pair of pants, underwear and sock (yes socks!) in my bag if there is an accident. I am jealouse you got the pacifier done last week. You are a hero! Gabe still has his and I don't think I will have the strength to get rid of it untill he masters potty training. Good luck momma!!

Oh good luck with potty training! I am attempting to start training my 2 1/2 year old son too. It's so hard! He's so strong willed and doesn't even want to attempt going on the potty....and don't even get me started with the pacifier! Ah! How did you pry it away?! Your an inspiration in all aspects of life! Lol.

Dear Anonymous,

You must know that judging someone else's parenting gets their blood boiling.

If you'd like to discuss my parenting skills with my 2.5 year old son further, feel free to make yourself available.

You might not want to waste your time here anymore.

dear rachel,

Wow, that's just lovely. I'm sure that person knows that you can't get into a good college, buy a house or VOTE if you had a paci for the first 3 years of life. *sarcastic tone* Yeah, I'm sure not being potty trained will somehow enable him in the long run too. mmmhhhmmmm. What an idiot!
Why do parents get so stupidly competitive. Why is it a race? Even if it messes with his teeth, trust me girl, it can be fixed later. No worries.

Ugh, I am boiling over here. Cause I know you personally. I know you only want what's best. Don't we all?

xoxo
Veronica

I just wanted to write a note of encoragement to help cancel out that horrible comment. I have been reading your blog since my twins were born a year and a half ago, and I find not only your art, but also your parenting to be inspirational. It seems like the things you do with your son are amazing, and filled with love. The pictures of your son show how happy and loved he is. When in life a child gives up a pacifier is not important. But if his mom and dad fill his life with loving memories of an amazing childhood, he will be happy for life. Keep up the good work momma!
