Smile and Wave is the new Bling!

Welcome to my new blog! I have been ready for a more well-designed look for awhile and decided I was also ready for a new name. After weeks of planning and scheming it is finally ready to share and I couldn't be happier about what my co-conspirator and I have come up with. Bling on My Sewing Machine's archives are still here, as well as the intent to publish regular inspiration from the many sources in which it is provided online. A few new things include featuring collected Etsy finds, sharing more DIY projects and crafts from readers, and offering ads in the side bar.

In order to celebrate, I'm giving away a set of three vintage sheet fat quarters from my studio stash! Simply leave a comment in this post sharing your new favorite Etsy shop or recent Etsy purchase as well as a project you've been meaning to start all summer. (The cut off for entries is Thursday at 10:00 a.m. and the winner will be shared that evening.) Thanks for your patience as we've been changing things out over here. Here are a few things that caught my attention over the weekend!

Upcycled plastic bags turned into pretty owl pockets by SoSheSews.

These pretty tones against a neutral background are unexpected and fresh for a little one. Found on Pickles via Holly.

This cross stitch pattern and these plushies from Penguin & Fish are making me happy!

These fantastic jumpers from Zurza.

Unfortunately these darling mobiles from Emilie Friday are out of stock.

Everything about this collage from Christine of Gun Hip, Swollen Lip.

One of many beautifully staged images from Dottie Angel.

If you're interested in being an August blog sponsor be sure to e-mail Leigh-Ann at FreckledNest@gmail.com for more information. We have two ad sizes available and are offering 20% off to the first five sponsors so be sure to get your spot in line!

Don't forget to re-subscribe to this address in order to get notification of new posts. The old address should redirect you in the meantime. Thanks for joining me at my new blog home!

xoxo, Rachel

I have a little journal that I keep a list of all the lovely things I'd like to make ( or else the thought might escape & I'll lose the great idea forever ).
One of the things at the top of my list is to make some fabric covered journals.. pretty flowers and buttons covering them. I think they'd be gorgeous!
Great blog... look forward to reading it!

Nice new blog! I just need to update mine, haha. My most recent etsy purchase (and first one) was a Mathilde felted doll from feltathome. Amazing and I can't wait to get it through the letterbox.
And the one project? Well, I've got about 10 on the go but the main one is to knit a scarf with my new found skills - if I start now I'll hopefully be finished by the time it gets cold again!

Hi Rachel,
Your new blog looks fantastic, (I guess I'm a little biased). I love the colours and the layout. Nice new look and refreshing!
I guess my last or only etsy purchase is from Leigh-Ann's etsy shop (Freckled Nest.com). Oops, sorry! :( I should shop more but it's a little intimidating to me, the whole paypal thing. I'm thinking of buying your quilting tutorial, THIS IS something I've wanted to learn all my life, don't know if I'll get to it this summer though. This summer, I want to make some of the scrapbook kits I bought from LA. I think she has given up on me.
Take care of yourself and baby Ruby. I love to see what you're creating.:)

My recent Etsy purchase was this lovely piece of fish art from Tsk Tsk. I hope to pair it with a sponge print that my daughter (age 3) made of fish swimming in the ocean and start a little fish-art themed collection.

It can be seen here (oops, except that I bought it at big cartel, not etsy)

So I'll add this other etsy purchase that I got for a birthday present for a friend and presented on a plate as "dessert". Yum.
