mewithoutYou

In honor of the Weiss family's visit to Springfield this Saturday.

We were able to see mewithoutYou in concert at Cornerstone Music Festival many summers back when RVA was still just a booth with pretty things and children weren't yet on our to do list. We were set up in a hot, dusty tent with other return vendors and musicians and it seemed that Aaron Weiss (aka: THE HOT ONE) was great friends with a few of the folks in the next aisle and spent a few hours over the weekend hanging out and catching up with them. However, I never actually TALK to the indie musicians that I admire, I just walk past and watch them from a distance. I'm one of THOSE fans.

I will say with 100% certainty that a mewithoutYou concert is one of the most inspiring and enthusiastic live shows you might ever attend. They are usually small enough that you feel a part of things and magical enough that you feel like the creativity and thought involved came from a place of love for the audience rather than to distract you from the mediocre performance.

Brett is the one with the detailed knowledge of the band and their history, personal stories, theology, etc. I love them for their lyrics and beautiful videos like this one. Enjoy!

xoxo,
Rachel

Hey Rachel! I am so one of those fans too! Hehe. Even my own friends who are quite famous I tend to shy from at their shows.

This is going to sound so goofy. I was two shy to say hey to Elsie last time I was in town..even though sh eemailed and wanted to hang out (which I checked much later oops).

Silly me silly you. xxx

Megan,

OMG! I'm not sure how they're able to sell those typewriters for so much but I bet they are in top shape whenever received! WOW!

Thanks for the link.

This post made me so sad. I know, that wasn't your intention! haha But you know how badly I wanted to go to their concert here at home on Monday... And all of my friends were talking about how great it was! Waaaah!!! haha But it's okay, I'm going to a concert next week. Though it won't be the same.

(wow, essay?! ha!)

Mandi!

I'm sorry! I know it's disappointing to miss a favorite band. We're not even sure if we can make it on Saturday because Brett is scheduled to work but we might still be able to get in before they play. Enjoy the concert you are going to, though. I haven't heard them yet.

I seem to remember riding in the car one time and Adam was singing to them and Brett made fun of him. Funny how tastes change :)

We are hoping to go, are you?

No way! Brett has always loved mewithoutYou. But...I'll scold him if it's true!

Yes, we're hoping Brittany will be available to babysit but she may have to work.

Hey Rachel!
I was at Cornerstone that year with my 'new' husband {it was part of our honeymoon} and I remember visiting your booth! I never thought years later I would be following yours (and Elsie's} blogs!

I love mewithoutyou. I saw them play years ago at a small little crowded stage in Orange County (Chain Reaction). It was one of the best shows, hands down.
