Happy 600th Post and 2010, Goal Number Three

When I informed Brett one of my 2010 goals was to blog everyday, I think I saw him flinch. So, I restated my goal to having something posted on my blog every day, although some of them would be written two or three at a time and then set to publish later. He was better with that.

I've realized keeping a blog not only keeps me sane and documents pieces of my family's life, it keeps me creative. It provides that challenge to always be thinking of new ideas, techniques, and resources to bring into my work while sharing it with you. The other challenge is drawing borders around that time so that I don't let it sneak into family time, personal time, or even creating time. It will always be a challenge.

So, I'm pairing this goal with getting all of us on loose schedules to help with our daily rhythm at home. It will include earlier bedtimes for all, morning routines that we'll stick to even when all I want to do is let Sebastian play another PBSkids.org game so I can get something else finished, and mealtimes that will take place at the dinner table. This means keeping the dinner table cleared of paperwork and crafty messes. And that's another goal for another day...

Feel free to ask me about this in a few weeks. I promise I won't leave you a mean comment about minding your own business and remembering that creative souls have a hard time staying organized. HA!

My new motto needs to be 'Fewer excuses in 2010'.

xoxo,
Rachel

Congratulations on 600th post rachel!! I'm excited for your new goal, I check everyday :) love you :)
Tip: start posts as drafts to be posted when done, then add to them (and paste links) as you think of things and you'll have a few posts half ready :)

I totally agree. Blogging has made me into a more creative person. I try to blog every day, but sometimes I just don't have anything to say, and I figure people would rather hear nothing from me than hear crap.... So I let those days slip between the cracks. :)

I think that less excuses in 2010 is probably the best bit of advice I could follow this year! Good luck keeping up with the daily posting. I look forward to reading them all!

After reading your post I promptly told my husband that the reason I have a pile of papers next to my side of the bed that I have yet to sort through is because I am a creative soul an that I am supposed to be un-organized....he didnt buy it :( LOL

I like this goal of yours because I just love reading your blog. Happy 600 posts!!!!

oh i love this. and your blog. and could not agree more with you about how blogs help us document, share, balance, drive us crazy and keep us sane :)

i couldn't agree with you more. it's sort of an accountability and it's so encouraging when you get instant feedback on something from someone other than your husband. just love your little family and reading your blog! cheers!

Fewer excuses - me too! It's so hard though, trying to balance all the creative fantasies with the realities of parenting and running a house. Sometimes you find the time then realise you don't have the energy to go with it :) I've been doing the same as you, coming up with schedules and time savers for the year ahead - all you can do is try!
