The Vintage Play Kitchen!

We were on our way home from visiting Brett's family when I saw a sign for an antique store in downtown West Plains that I felt the urge to visit. We'd never driven through the square before since it's off the beaten path home but all parties involved were either asleep or willing to take a pit stop so we found it. This is where I need to share with you all how consistently my dear husband says 'sure' when I ask him if we can make a stop. He is such a trooper.

I walked in and instantly knew it was a place full of carefully picked vintage but also pretty great prices and got a little giddy. I was about to go to the front and just ask if they had a wooden play kitchen to save myself some time when I rounded a corner and there it was! The SAME ONE I'd wanted and at an unbeatable price. I almost squealed a little because I really didn't think I was ever going to find one.

I've been collecting the vintage kitchen accessories for about a year and have a few more things on my list to pick up next time I see them but we've got enough of a working kitchen for now. In fact, Sebastian made his daddy a birthday cake yesterday.

I told Brett, it just goes to show that good things come to those who wait!

xoxo,
Rachel

Aww, that's so sweet! Congrats on your great find! I haven't tackled vintage shopping here in Nashville yet, but I'm looking forward to discovering a few treasures of my own. :)

How adorable is that?! Seeing it just brought back strong memories - we must have had one at home or in our church nursery or something. It is just perfect! :)

Holly,
It's thrifted but the bag it came with says Pottery Barn. I'm not sure if they still carry it or not but similar ones can be found here: http://www.finewoodentoys.com/geometric_puzzles_2.html

That is too perfect! My mom was so sweet to give me bowls and spoons, etc for mine when I was little too! It was my favorite toy then and now my real kitchen is my favorite *grown-up* toy! ;) Looks like fun!

LOVE IT!!! I have a plastic kitchen that a neighbor gave us that is at least 30 years old, but there is nothing like wood. I even have been eyeing the Ikea one! Yours is so darling, I couldn't tell if it was for you or the kids :)

I just got rid of a whole set of this wooden kitchen pieces this year. Our kids have all but grown out of playing with them. I donated them to a thrift store. Hopefully someone got them that loved them as much as we did and you do with your treasure!

I have always loved the classic wooden play furniture. The new "fancy" plastic stuff doesn't hold a candle to it. Great Find!!!

Great find! My girls got a "retro" kitchen for Christmas (Target remake!) and "make dessert" most nights after dinner.

My mom and I went thrifting when she was visiting a few weeks ago and we found the same dishes she played w/ from the 1950s!
