Another Full Weekend

We're looking forward to having my dad visit this weekend from his new home in Oklahoma City. My mom is wrapping up her school year as a teacher and will join him in June and we're SO thrilled that they are soon going to be only 4 hours away (maybe 5 with potty and thrifting stops) instead of a plane ride away!

Oh, and instead of finishing any of my half-way completed projects I started yet another one. It's a curse, I tell you. I saw this post from Making Chicken Salad and remembered I'd been saving up my yellow jersey shirts for just an occasion. I have gotten to my third ball of t-shirt and will soon be out so I'll scout some out at the next thrift store.

I hope you have a lovely Spring weekend! Any locals going to Arts Fest?

xoxo,
Rachel

I saw it, too, and sliced up a few gray t-shirts! (and I don't even know what I'm going to make, yet...)

Can totally relate to the unfinished project thing. I think it's an artsy person curse. Kinda fun though, right?

I made a large bucket from the t-shirt strips and will donate it to the silent auction for the local quilt guild show. It's lined with pretty fabric and batting.

YAY!! my little 20" rug used 8 shirts. i want to make a giant striped one for henry's room, so i will be hitting the mens t-shirt section of all my local spots, too!

how exciting that your parents will be closer! enjoy your weekend, and i can't wait to see your rug!

p.s. speaking of halfway house... while cleaning my studio i found FOUR half finished afghans. oops.

Oh I have been meaning to try t-shirt yarn lately. I just haven't found any shirts to cut up yet. Next time I go to the thrift store I'm going to look for some shirts! It looks fun to crochet with!

atta girl! way to start a new project. That's just how we roll. :)
I'm headed out to some local things in Akron this weekend. We have an art walk downtown, so lots of galleries will be open and there will be plenty of live music. And then on Sunday we're having a hand made craft mart at a local music venue. Fun fun stuff!

I've been wanting to make one of those rugs too. I cleaned out my sewing room this week and found tons of unfinished projects too. Your not alone. ;)

I saw that post over at Making Chicken Salad and I was in love! I need to find the time to do that myself very soon. Can't wait to see your finished product!
