On The Way Home I Stopped To Look

Prettiest Camera I Now Own
Imperial Mark 27
Etched Glassware, It's Been Awhile...

Ruby and I went shopping this morning after an appointment and discovered where all of the etched glassware in town is being sold! If you haven't been to Relics, Missouri's largest antique mall (or it will be when it's actually full of vendors), it's worth a look. There's a lot of big vintage walnut furniture for antique prices but there are plenty of other booths full of vintage eye candy from the 40's, 50's, and 60's. I also picked up a beautiful feed sack bedspread (the floral background), a brass beaded necklace, and wooden spools of thread in beautiful colors.

I'm in the process of decluttering our house so thrifting might seem to be working against that process but I just unloaded a bunch of good vintage at RVA and some regular boring stuff at Red Racks so I'm sticking to my 'one in, one out' guideline pretty well! I'm on a mission to only have things in our home that I'm smitten with when it's an option (portable dishwashers can't be helped, ya'll) and most of those things happen to be vintage. Which makes living in Springfield even better because the selection in town and the Midwest in general is pretty fantastic.

xoxo,
Rachel

Wonderful treasures! Man, it seems that Springfield is the mother lode of all thrifting! I'm pretty jealous.

i've been really trying to do the "one in, one out" thing lately too, and paring down what's in my house to what I really need & love. but i'm a sucker for vintage glasses. if I bought every set I ever loved we wouldn't have room in the cupboards for anything else. :) yours are really pretty.

ADORE that camera! I've been hunting for some pretty old etched glasses too! They're priced ridculous on ebay and etsy and I'd really like to find a set!

Fall definitely puts me in the mood to declutter everything just in time for the holidays. You always seem to find the best things! I think it's time to venture out more. :)

My husband and I do the "one thing in, one thing out" with our clothing...Otherwise our closets get stuffed!

Great philosophy! I am definitely spending more mindfully and only buying things that I truly can't live without... slowly our home is being filled with delicious things I love! Love that bedspread too!

we have a great antique mall in wichita, but i swear that missouri has the best stuff. we go to st. joseph, mo a couple of times a year and i always have to stop in at jesse james antique mall and rusty chandelier(next door). my poor husband. we seriously thought about renting a small uhaul last time. :)

so i am really loving your blog. i am a momma of 2 (boy and girl too!) from the midwest, oklahoma, but living in england just outside london. you remind me of home and we have such similar style. so thanks for writing!

so what is your de-cluttering strategy? i would love to read a post about that. i have a teeny victorian townhouse here in the uk and am CONSTANTLY balancing my love for vintage and all the baby stuff in a house with NO storage. wardrobes are my best friend but any tips are welcome! love, sarah

You're very lucky, antique malls are pretty much non-existent in Miami . . . if I want to go thrifting i have to travel way up north!

I was in Springfield for a day for training and a made a quick stop at Relics. Loved it! I wish I had had more time and a bigger spending budget for the day, but I able to find a really cute picnic basket for $3.50!! Thanks for the tip. I really wish I lived closer to Springfield.
