I like smiling. Smiling's My Favorite!

Last night my family sat down to watch Elf. Actually, I sat down to watch it because Brett was getting his gear ready for drill and having to turn in early, and Sebastian decided he didn't like it before it even started. There were pleas and bribery but in the end they couldn't resist the pull of Will Ferrell.

We got to the Gimbel's dept. store scene where Buddy accuses Santa of being a fake and they start rolling around and knocking down all of the decorations and Sebastian yelled out, "Oh no! They're ruining it!" Then he burst into tears. It kind of broke my heart that he was so upset so we pushed pause and talked about it and decided we would make our own decorations and not let anyone tear them down.

So, while Brett was at drill today we cut out snowflakes and made paper chains to our hearts' content. And no one is going to ruin it for my little tender heart.

xoxo,
Rachel

Recently, I tried to make some snowflakes but must have forgotten how to fold the paper as it didn't work at all. I love your pic here though and inspires me to try again. A dark taupe wall would help woners too!

oh my goodness..so sweet! thanks for sharing!

I rented Elf to watch with a guest in from out of town - who thought Elf was about a guy who was drunk all the time. (Turns out she was thinking of Bad Santa.)

To remedy her misconception, we watched Elf Saturday night and she adored it!

My favorite line remains the screaming of Will Ferrell when Santa's upcoming visit is announced and he yells, "SANTA! SANTA! I know him!!"
